Writing Elements At High School

This is a book with PROVEN techniques to ace ESSAY WRITING at GCSE/IGCSE, SAT, ACT, AP English or Research Paper. Over the last twenty years or so, I have interacted with thousands of students across the globe. I am an English Teacher and Examiner for English Literature (IGCSE and GCSE, and Advanced Level (Shakespeare) - rising to Team Leader position - and English Language (Pearson Test Of English) with Cambridge International Examinations, and Edexcel respectively. I have encountered and marked thousands of papers from Shakespeare to Modern Literary works, as well as the Reading and Directed Writing language examinations. From my twelve years teaching in London, short two year-stints in Manchester and Kent; as well as a few years in Southern and Asia; and currently based in North Africa . . .the most telling and compelling issue among my High School students has been ESSAY WRITING. Various students have diverse needs when it comes to essay/composition writing. It is a field which, without enough practice and having a certain go-attitude, some students graduate from High School without mastered or harnessed the key ingredients. We, as teachers, can do so much to assist but the onus ALWAYS falls on the student to PRACTICE and gain good grades in essay or composition writing. Against this backdrop, and with experience as an International High School English Teacher and Examiner (English Literature, I have vested interest in seeing my students achieve and excel in Essay Writing, be it with the UK-based GCSE, IELTS, and IGCSE; or the College Board-based United States of America's SAT, ACT or AP English examinations. FORTUNATELY, this book will help you a lot in achieving the best grades in ESSAY WRITING or COMPOSITION at all levels. I will take you through the major steps: from Understanding the Question, through to Writing the Introduction and Body Paragraphs as well writing a Conclusion. Lastly, I will show you the best approaches to tackling composition topics in Narrative, Descriptive and Discursive; as well as the best techniques to writing English Literature essays be it at IGCSE and GCSE, AP English Language/Literature courses and the OPTIONAL ESSAYS at SAT and ACT examinations.
