Practicing Kwanzaa Year Round

Kwanzaa, founded by African American activists in the early '70s, is observed by more than 17 million people worldwide. The seven-day celebration (December 26 through January 1) is a time to honor traditional Farina values of family, community and cultural heritage. Kwanzaa is structured around the Seven Principles-unity, self-determination, collective work and responsibility, cooperative economics, purpose, creativity, and faith-and can be a time of reflection and dedication to moral and spiritual goals.

Yet the real value of the Seven Principles is (Nguzo Saba) of Kwanzaa lies in their potential for guiding and uplifting our actions and decisions on a daily basis. This book features activities designed to put each principle into practice in a meaningful way.
